Lessons for school aged students are conducted by the term, usually consisting of 8 consecutive weeks. Fees are payable in advance. Mid-term enrolments are billed for the lessons remaining in the term.
Lessons for adult students are either conducted by the term (ongoing, exclusive lesson time) or casually (single lessons with variable times, depending upon teacher availability). Fees are payable in advance.
Invoices are generated using MYOB accounting software, and sent directly to your nominated email address. Please flag the automated MYOB email address as “not-junk” to ensure that invoices can be received in your inbox.
Upon standard enrolment an ongoing, exclusive lesson time is reserved. As such, all missed lessons are forfeited; no refunds or make up lessons will be provided. This aligns with the recommendations of the Queensland Music Teachers’ Association.
Adult students with a casual enrolment may reschedule lessons, provided that a minimum of 24 hours notice is given. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are forfeited; no refunds will be provided.
In the event that I need to cancel a lesson, students will be notified as soon as possible, and the lesson rescheduled to a mutually agreeable time, or carried forward
at the studio
" mi casa es su casa - my home is your home "
My home is located in Darling Heights, a short walk to the University of Southern Queensland Toowoomba campus.
I have a two-street frontage, and my driveway is not accessible from the front entrance to my home. However, there is ample street parking available in the cul-de-sac in front of my home; please do not park on the grass footpath.
My home-studio is clean, well-lit and well-ventilated, with air conditioning for the summer, and a fireplace in the winter.
I'm equipped with a 1987 Kawai US65 Upright Grand and Roland FP80 Keyboard. I have an adjustable piano bench and pedal extender. I use Shure microphones and Bose sound equipment, and have a large collection of music in hard copy and digital form.
The purchase of all required lesson materials is at the expense of the student.
The reproduction of sheet music (hard and digital copies) and audio recordings is strictly prohibited by Australian Copyright Law.
safety and well-being
I am committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of myself, and all students. In accordance with the requirements of the Commission for Children and Young People, and as a business regulated by the Commission's Act, I have a current Blue Suitability Card and Risk Management Strategy in place. These can be sighted upon request.
Lessons strictly commence and conclude at the appointed time. I am not able to hold responsibility for school-aged students outside of their allotted lesson time. Prompt arrival and collection respects the safety and well-being of students, and shows consideration of my time, and the time of students prior and subsequent.
Parents are welcome to attend the first lesson of school-aged students. However to ensure the most comfortable working environment for the student, attendance at subsequent lessons is not preferable.
I will happily address any questions or concerns that arise, and endeavour to respond to all communication within 24 hours.
I have a zero tolerance policy for disrespectful or abusive behaviour or communication from students and parents. This includes verbal, written or physical abuse, or any behaviour that incurs damage to my studio and equipment.
Failure to respect any of the conditions outlined in the studio policy may result in the immediate cessation of enrolment.
To cease individual lessons, written notice is required by the last lesson of the current term. Failure to provide the required notice will incur a cancellation fee (50% of the following term account).
