School Aged Students
Fees are payable per term, in advance. Mid-term enrolments are billed for the lessons remaining in the term. A registration fee of $10 is due with each term.
Adult students are required to pay for each lesson attended. Payment can be made prior to the lesson via direct deposit, or at the lesson via card or cash. 24 hours notice is required for cancellations to avoid full lesson fees being charged.
When a student does not attend a private lesson (either with or without advanced notice), this causes direct financial loss to the teacher. The Music Teachers' Association of Queensland recommend that accredited members charge for all missed lessons, unless the circumstances warrant some special concession, in the teacher's opinion.
In the unlikely event that I cannot attend a lesson, students will be notified as soon as possible, and the lesson rescheduled or carried forward.
Make up lessons may become available in the event of student absences, but are not guaranteed.
Lessons commence at the appointed time, not when the student arrives for their lesson.
Students are required to demonstrate a commitment to their studies, by practicing regularly (commensurate to their age and level of experience) and by arriving to their lessons with all required materials, and a positive work ethic.
Parents are welcome to attend the first lesson of school aged students. However, to ensure the most comfortable working environment for the student, parental attendance at subsequent lessons is welcomed, but not preferable.
Piano students will only be accepted once a suitable (teacher approved) instrument is made available for at-home-practice.
The reproduction of sheet music (hard and digital copies) and audio recordings is strictly prohibited by Australian Copyright Law. The purchase of all required lesson materials is at the expense of the student.
Vocal students are encouraged to bring a recording device (i.e. iPhone/iPod/voice recorder) to record each lesson for at-home practice.
I have an open door policy and will happily address any questions or concerns that arise. Respectful correspondence and communication is required at all times.
I have a zero tolerance policy for uncooperative or disrespectful behaviour from students, including behaviour which may incur damage to studio equipment.
I am not able to hold responsibility for school aged students outside of their allotted lesson time. Prompt arrival and collection (at the appointed lesson start and finish time) not only respects the safety and wellbeing of students, but also shows consideration of my time, and the time of students prior and subsequent.
In accordance with the requirements of the Commission for Children and Young Pople, and as a business regulated by the Commission's Act, I have a current Blue Suitability Card and Risk Management Strategy in place, showing a commitment to maintaining the safety and wellbeing of all students. These can be sighted upon request.
Failure to respect any conditions outlined in the studio policy may result in cancellation of enrolment.
To discontinue lessons, written notice is required no later than the last lesson of the current term. Failure to provide the required notice will result in a cancellation fee (50% of the following term account).
